Security

Secure source fibre should be top of mind when purchasing access mats. We manufacture in BC, surrounded by the douglas fir forests you rely on for your mats. Located in the Cariboo region of BC, we have strategic alliances with world class, North American forest products companies. They supply our input lumber from mills just up the road.

Our roots are in the BC forest industry and our connections are unparalleled in the mat industry. This benefits our customers as we support your needs with our expertise.

Reliability

We’re access mat experts, nothing more, nothing less. We focus on building a high quality mat, with quality control measures that ensure you get the mat you paid for. We have access to nearly unlimited input fibre, which means delivery on orders of any size. If you need it, we can supply it.

We’re located in an area affected by the wildfires and downturn in the BC forest economy. We have a great pool of skilled labour to help meet your goals and deadlines.

Sustainability

We build exclusively out of lumber harvested from sustainable forest sources. Our suppliers, within a comprehensive certification program, have registered 100% of their Canadian forestlands entrusted to them to an independent, voluntary sustainable certification program. These forest lands are independently certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) fibre sourcing and forest management standards.

Our supplier also subscribes to the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), which assures that the fibre in our mats comes from sources that comply with applicable laws, regulations, and sustainable resource standards.

Aboriginal Involvement

We are piloting a program to sell indigenous crafted mats, built in indigenous communities, with Ironwood Mats assisting in training, logistics and sales. We are in negotiations with 4 groups located close to our primary plant - this means increased capacity and a true socially licensed product with the benefits staying in our partner communities.

We believe in building strong partnerships with aboriginal communities, helping to develop economic opportunities and working to create more sustainable jobs through the forest lands they manage.
